How hypnotherapy can help you to conceive

We talk about infertility when you have frequent, unprotected sex for at least a year and still didn’t conceive. About 9% of men and 11% of women of reproductive age have experience fertility problems.

Infertility can be primary or secondary. Primary infertility is when a pregnancy has never been achieved by a person, and secondary infertility is when at least one prior pregnancy has been achieved, according to the World Health Organization.

So many couples are struggling with creating the family they dream of and often experience high levels of stress and anxiety in this phase. While it’s understandable where these emotions come from, they can, however, contribute to lower fertility. One way to get out of this vicious cycle can be hypnotherapy.

I use Rapid Transformational Therapy with my female clients, to support them along their journey to becoming a mother and beyond.

What are the benefits of hypnotherapy for those experiencing delays in conceiving?

One of the first things women do when they realize that it takes them longer than expected to conceive is to start doubting themselves. Doubting their ability to become a mother which shows up in negative thoughts like

“Maybe it’s a sign and I shouldn’t be a mother”

“There is something wrong with me”

“The one thing that women should be able to do, and are designed for, I cannot do”

And we know how strong the body-mind connection is, every thought we have has a physical reaction in our body, which in this case, is not beneficial to conceive. High levels of stress and anxiety as well as continuous negative self-talk can release the hormones adrenaline and cortisol. If the levels of adrenaline and cortisol are too high, this can make it difficult to conceive.

Additional support through hypnotherapy can be beneficial for women who are already in treatment for the physical cause of infertility or for women who are looking for natural ways to increase their fertility.

In a Rapid Transformational Therapy session, we look at the subconscious limiting belief that may be preventing pregnancy. All of our memories are stored in the subconscious mind, your filing system that runs most of your decision on a daily basis. The most common limiting beliefs my clients have around pregnancy and motherhood are “I will not be a good mother because I didn’t have a good role model” and “Having a child is hard work, and I can’t handle it because I am weak” “I am afraid to end up alone with the child once my partner realizes how hard it is to be a parent, and I can’t handle that”

Studies suggest that hypnotherapy is also beneficial for women who undergo IVF treatment. Being relaxed and calm, and trusting the process helps the body to accept the fertilized egg.

Some fertility clinics only accept women who are within a certain range of BMI before they can start IVF. Hypnotherapy can support you in achieving your ideal weight, feeling well, and being confident in your body. Many women hold certain beliefs about themselves when it comes to their appearance that contributes to higher weight, which could be protection or punishment. It’s complex, and with Rapid Transformational Therapy you can kick off the healing you need to ditch diets, guilt around eating or your body, and finally start your family.

What happens in a Rapid Transformational Therapy Session?

We’ll have a complimentary introduction meeting to build rapport. It is crucial that you feel comfortable with me and that I am certain I can help you.

In a second call we talk about the presenting issue you come to see me for, you’ll talk me through your childhood in a nutshell, and then we discuss in detail the life you want to have and the outcomes you are wishing to achieve from the hypnotherapy session.

Rapid Transformational Therapy works perfectly via zoom and so we’ll set up a time and date that works well for you. You need to be undisturbed for about 2 hours, sitting in a comfortable chair in the comfort of your home with a stable WiFi connection and headphones. We’ll start with an induction process, the start of your hypnotherapy journey.

I’ll guide you back to memories of experiences where you developed the limiting belief and adopted it into your life. Most of our beliefs were created before the age of 7, at a time when our prefrontal cortex was not fully developed. You just tried to make sense of the world around you with the abilities you had. Now as an adult with a fully developed brain, you can look at these experiences with a fresh pair of eyes, understanding that you don’t need to believe any of these thoughts anymore. We are paving the way for the subconscious mind to be open and receptive, healing from trauma, wounds, and pain. Many people think that they won’t be in control during a hypnotherapy session, which is exactly the opposite of what is true. You will be aware of everything you say and do, you could even get up and go to the bathroom or open your eyes anytime you want. I can only give you the suggestions that you like to adopt. You are still in control. You are experiencing a heightened state of awareness regarding the memories you carry in your mind and body.

In most cases, the limiting belief has nothing to do with pregnancy or family. It is about you. You’ll leave the session relaxed and feeling confident about yourself.

What’s next?

As you feel deeply relaxed and totally relieved, you’ll experience a shift taking place. That can happen in an instant right after the session, or incremental, a little bit day after day. Some clients don’t realize the shift happening until they look back and remember how different they lead their life now. And of course, successfully conceiving is one big sign of a shift taking place.

As part of the process to support you along your journey, you will also receive a tailored audio recording, packed with positive affirmations, visualization about the life you want to have, and suggestions for your body to be perfectly capable of conceiving that baby with the right hormonal balance and the mindset supporting all of that. Can I not just go on a long vacation or take time off from work to relax instead of doing hypnotherapy?

Good point! And that leads me to my favorite topic of self-care which will become important for you once you are a mom.

Going on a nice vacation, and taking time off from work (e.g. sabbatical), can of course help relieve stress. A lot of babies are conceived during holidays when we are far away from the day-to-day struggle and stress. While this can be helpful, it is also only temporary. Once you are back, it is easy to get back into the loop of constant worrying, anxiety, and stress, and you didn’t find a way to deal with these emotions, but rather escape from them.

I believe that we can create a life we don’t have to escape from.

With hypnotherapy, you go to the root cause of your issue, which will have an impact in all areas of your life.

Living life in stress or anxiety releases hormones such as adrenaline and cortisol, our “Fight or Flight” hormones. The exact opposite of relaxation. You want your body to produce oxytocin, serotonin, dopamine, and endorphins which make a great environment in your body for conceiving.

In my work I also teach women about metacognitive psychology and how they can work with their minds to let go of looping anxious thoughts such as “What if it doesn’t work this month around” or “What if my partner will just get tired of all of that” “what if.. ” “What if..” there are a million what if’s, but it doesn’t support your body to be relaxed.

I work with you for over 8 weeks. You have two hypnotherapy sessions, one every 4 weeks. We’ll meet every week for coaching calls to talk about how you are doing and what is coming up for you.
